Not Untrue and Not Unkind Times Review

This is an excellent first novel about the mysterious international tribe of foreign correspondents to which the author once belonged. In Dublin a newspaper boss is found dead. Owen Simmonds, one of his underlings, steals a bloodstained dossier from the dead man’s desk. And that contains a photograph, which sends Simmonds hurtling back into a past that he’s trying to forget. Ten years previously he was part of a group of reporters covering various war zones in Africa. They’re an antiheroic bunch of drifters and adventurers from across the world, and Simmonds’ Africa is a hotbed of love, jealousy and fierce rivalry. Superb.
